Every year since 1945 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild has had its labels designed and illustrated by different contemporary artists, including many famous names.

當年酒廠榮升為一級, Label 竟然是畢卡索的畫, 可見酒廠極之隆重其事. 酒廠老板也把酒廠百年多的座右銘 Motto 由

~Premier ne puis, second ne daigne, Mouton suis.~
'First, I cannot be. Second, I do not condescend to be. Mouton, I am.'

改為

~Premier je suis, Second je fus, Mouton ne change.~

'First, I am. Second, I used to be. Mouton, I do not change.'

不但顯出酒廠對被升級的尊重, 也顯出酒廠對自已酒的信心和執着.

1945 by Philippe Jullian

Philippe Jullian (1921-1977) was a French illustrator, art historian, biographer, aesthete, novelist and dandy

Born in Bordeaux in 1922, he studied Literature at university but left to pursue drawing and painting. In his later years, he resided in England but regularly spent winters in Africa. He also travelled extensively in India and Egypt. Jullian committed suicide in 1977.

One of his first officially noted works was the first "artist's" label for the famous wine from Château Mouton Rothschild in 1945, in memory for the World War II victory over Germany.

Andrew Warhola (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987), more commonly known as Andy Warhol, was an American artist and a figure in the movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and public figure known for his membership in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats.

1999 by Raymond Savignac

Raymond Savignac, often just abbreviated to "Savignac", was a French graphic artist famous for his commercial posters. He was born on November 6, 1907 in Paris, and died on October 31, 2002 in Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), aged 94. His work is distinguished by a humorous simplicity.

Self-taught, he started designing posters under the direction of Cassandre, but met with his greatest success with the poster for Monsavon soap, which featured the udders of a cow directly supplying the "milk soap" with milk.

Another famous poster was called "La Guerre des boutons" (War of Buttons).

A permanent display of his work may be found at the Montebello Museum in Trouville, where he spent his last years. There is also a beachfront walk dedicated to him. Many of his posters depicted the Norman seaside town, and these can be seen there. Murals of his work can also bee seen around town.

1996 by Gu Gan

Born in 1942 in Hunan Province, Gu Gan is now internationally recognized as the pioneer of the Modernist movement in calligraphic painting in China and is its most charismatic exponent. He has long been the chairman of the Modern Calligraphy and Painting Society in China. More than any of his contemporaries, he has explored the potential of abstract art and developed classical Chinese form to express a reality of contemporary life. In 1998 he was invited by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild to design the wine label for the Mouton Rothschild 1996 vintage. Gu Gan is the first Chinese artist to ever have been thus honored.
